I’m frequently in the mood for a little murder over Christmas, and since that’s unfortunately illegal, how about a mystery novel instead?

Title: The Christmas Murder Game
Author: Alexandra Benedict
Vibe: This is very “complex written clues left by a dead relative,” and hence not even remotely realistic, but a lot of fun to read. Don’t get attached to anyone who isn’t an obvious lesbian, and brace yourself for Heavy Twee Ahead.
Thoughts: I’m not saying this book pulled me in; I’m just saying that by the end of chapter three all I wanted in life was for the heroine to win this godforsaken game.
Verdict: This is my idea of a perfect light holiday read. In some way I can’t pin down it reminded me of really good middle grade fiction, but for adults.
